Validação e adaptação transcultural do instrumento “The Family Medicine Milestone Project” para o contexto brasileiro

Abstract

Residency programs face the challenge of developing professional competences. “The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Milestone Project” emerged to standardize the residents’ progression through developmental milestones. This is a methodological study of translation and adaptation, aiming attranslating and validating the instrument to assess the skills developed by Family and Community Medicine residents, involving 5 steps: 1) Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education authorization to use the instrument; 2) translation of the instrument; 3) content validation; 4) back-translation; and 5) equivalence of the translated and the original version. The 22-question instrument was evaluated by 8 experts for semantic and content validation. It was back translated into English and forwarded to 2 specialists who attested to the equivalence with the original instrument. The translation and validation of the instrument “The Milestones” allows its use by Brazilian Family and Community Medicine Residency programs.
