Abstract

A diabetes, sendo um problema de saúde pública de elevada magnitude, é previsível que venha a constituir uma das principais causas de morbilidade e incapacidade total ou parcial durante o século XXI. Em 2015 estima-se a existência de 415 milhões de pessoas com diabetes no mundo e, em 2040, estima-se que este valor ascenda a 642 milhões.
