Vacuum stability and supersymmetry at high scales with two Higgs doublets

Abstract: Abstract:We investigate the stability of the electroweak vacuum for two-Higgs-doublet models with a supersymmetric UV completion. The supersymmetry breaking scale is taken to be of the order of the grand unification scale. We first study the case where all superpartners decouple at this scale. We show that contrary to the Standard Model with one Higgs doublet, matching to the supersymmetric UV completion is possible if the lowscale model contains two Higgs doublets. In this case vacuum stability and experiment… Show more

“…In the light Higgs case we restrict |μ| ≤ 3Mq 3 , thus allowing μ 15 TeV for very large third generation squark masses Mq 3 ∼ 5 TeV. Parameter points with more extreme values of |μ/Mq 3 | beyond ∼3 often face severe constraints from vacuum stability requirements [78][79][80][81][82][83][84][85][86] (for a recent analysis see also Ref. [87]).…”

“…It is interesting that such a model can be consistent with gauge coupling unification, which imposes constraints on tan β and the Higgs boson masses [49]. The presented model assumes that all the quarks and leptons arise as zero modes of bulk fields, caused by magnetic flux.…”

“…The minimal supersymmetric extension of the SM (MSSM) is a prominent example of BSM theories that features a Higgs sector with two Higgs doublets. In particular, if all supersymmetric partners are heavy, the MSSM can be treated as an effective 2HDM for energies far below the SUSY mass scale(s) [3][4][5][6]. Indeed, the 2HDM is one of the simplest low-energy effective Higgs models and could be the result of various UV-complete BSM theories, with or without Supersymmetry (SUSY).…”
