Long-distance real-time video flooding over VANETs is a challenging topic due to the dynamic nature of vehicular networks. Real-time video transmission has high requirements in terms of bandwidth and delay, while VANETs are characterized by very limited radio resources and high mobility.Our objective is to compare ten different flooding schemes specially designed for this task, selecting the best one in terms of packet arrival ratio and PSNR. Additionally, we propose ACDB, an improved flooding scheme to cope with variable vehicle density situations.Furthermore, to ensure a good behaviour under any type of circumstances, we also study the impact of GPS drift on these schemes. Simulation results show that long-distance real-time video flooding transmission is feasible under certain vehicle density conditions, and provides enough quality for being used in future applications.

Abstract-In this work, an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) for vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) is proposed and evaluated. The IDS is evaluated by simulation in presence of rogue nodes that can launch different attacks. The proposed IDS is capable of detecting a false information attack using statistical techniques effectively and can also detect other types of attacks. First, the theory and implementation of the VANET model that is used to train the IDS is discussed. Then an extensive simulation and analysis of our model under different traffic conditions is conducted to identify the effects of these parameters in VANETs. In addition, the extensive data gathered in the simulations is presented using graphical and statistical techniques. Moreover, rogue nodes are introduced in the network and an algorithm is presented to detect these rogue nodes. Finally, we evaluate our system and observe that the proposed application layer IDS based on cooperative information exchange mechanism is better for dynamic and fast moving networks such as VANETs as compared to other techniques available. Abstract-Vehicular networks represent an extremely variable and unpredictable environment. Scenarios can vary from very dense and congested configurations to sparsely populated arrangements. Therefore, protocols designed for such a general scope may fail to efficiently behave in certain configurations. In this paper we propose the Topological-Geographical Routing Protocol (TGRP), a novel solution that presents an adaptive behavior by using a set of standard routing strategies. According to the scenario, TGRP chooses among four different routing approachestwo-hop direct delivery, Dynamic MANET On-demand (DYMO), greedy georouting, and store-carry-andforward technique-to dynamically adapt its behavior to every situation. Performance evaluation shows that TGRP presents a more stable performance under different circumstances, being more adaptable to the changing characteristics of vehicular networks. In fact, TGRP outperforms DYMO by 10% in low density scenarios. In dense networks, TGRP also outperforms the Delay Tolerant Network (DTN) protocol by 10%.
