The development of an optochemical sensor for colorimetric determination of trinitrotoluene (TNT) from aqueous samples is described. The optode film was formed based on the immobilization of trioctylmethylammonium chloride (Aliquat 336) on a triacetylcellulose membrane, which acts as a fixed carrier and anion‐exchanger. When the colorless and transparent optochemical sensor are employed in TNT solution samples, a red‐orange color with maximum absorption wavelength at 530 nm develops in consequence of formation of TNT‐Aliquat 336 ion pair in the sensor membrane. The optical response of this optode is being proportional to concentration of TNT in aqueous solution. Various experimental parameters such as pH, optode composition, response time and reversibility have been studied and optimized. The analytical performance of the optode was evaluated, obtaining a linear response over the range of 1.0 to 16.0 mg/L, a limit of detection of 0.14 mg/L, good reproducibility and selectivity. The sensor was seen to exhibit a fully reversible response. The developed optode in the present work was applied to the determination of TNT in water and soil samples with satisfactory results.

In the present study, a simple and efficient directly suspended-solidified floating organic droplet microextraction using deep eutectic solvent in combination with high performance liquid chromatography has been proposed for the extraction and ultra-trace quantification of nitroaromatic explosives. The predominant experimental factors such as type and amount of deep eutectic solvent, extraction time, salt concentration and temperature that affect the extraction efficiency of nitroaromatic explosives were considered and optimized. By performing the process in optimal conditions, the calibration curves were linear in the range of 0.6-200 μg/L for 2,4,6-trinitrotolouene (TNT), 0.5-200 μg/L for 2,4-dinitrotolouene (2,4-DNT) and 0.5-200 μg/L for 2,6-dinitrotolouene (2,6-DNT). The limits of detection were 0.19, 0.16 and 0.14 μg/L for TNT, 2,4-DNT and 2.6-DNT, respectively. The relative standard deviations were between 4.8-6.4% (n = 6). The proposed method was successfully applied to the analysis of soil and water samples. At the different spiking levels recovery values ranged between 89 to 102% for soil and water samples, which indicates the negligible effect of the matrix on the extraction process.

Activated carbon nanofibers (CNFs) were derived from electrospun nanofibers with subsequent heat treatment. They were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The applicability of activated CNFs for preconcentration and determination of organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) was investigated by high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detector (HPLC-DAD). Some important parameters influencing the extraction efficiency, such as amount of sorbent, pH, flow rate and amount of salt, were investigated by response surface method (RSM). The obtained results showed that this analytical method will be useful for the analysis of OPPs in tap water with high precision and accuracy.ARTICLE HISTORY
