UV-Vis and XRD investigation of graphite-doped poly(acrylic) acid membranes

Abstract: Possible modification of the structure of poly(acrylic) acid (PAA) membranes doped with graphite was investigated by UV-Vis and XRD techniques. The pure PAA membranes were characterized by good transparency in the domain 250-700 nm, with maximum absorption at 207 nm. The absorbance of membranes increased significantly after doping with graphite. The XRD patterns of pure membranes showed a low degree of order of the polymeric matrix. Some modifications of the parameters of the ordered domains of the polymer and … Show more

“…The peak at 1232 cm -1 is assigned to C -C -O -C -C stretching. The peak at 1041 cm -1 corresponds to phenyl in plane C -H bending vibration, [5,9,10,13]. Low amplitude of the bands in the 1250 cm -1 range are in accord with other works reported in literature, [14].…”

“…We found the value d=5.0 Å. The area S under the diffraction peak is proportional with the concentration of the ordered domains in the sample and the width of the signal is correlated with the size of the ordered domains, [5]. Using Scherrer's formula we found the value D=14.1 Å of the size of ordered domains.…”

“…1 f) illustrates the peaks at 2θ = 10° (d001 = 0.83 nm), 2θ = 20° (d002 = 0 0.48 nm), 2θ = 26° (d002 = 0 34 nm) and 2θ = 55° (d004 = 0 0.17 nm). The peaks at 2θ = 26°, 55° is characteristic of graphite and after chemical oxidation of it, the inter planar distance increase and the other peaks appear 39 , 42 .…”

“…The preparation of inclusion complex was evaluated by comparing the XRD patterns of the γ-Fe 2 O 3 @Au/PβCD/PAA-SDN with PAA-SDN, γ-Fe 2 O 3 @Au/PβCD, and their physical mixture. The XRD pattern of PAA-SDN shows amorphous peaks at around 2θ=10–20° and 2θ=25–35° 53. γ-Fe 2 O 3 @Au/PβCD/PAA-SDN has similar XRD pattern with the pattern of γ-Fe2O3@Au/PβCD except that in the spectrum of γ-Fe 2 O 3 @Au/PβCD/PAA-SDN the Fe index in 2θ=32° (200) is disappeared.…”
