UV Protection and Antibacterial Treatment of Wool using Green Silver Nanoparticles

Abstract: Herein, we attempted a new green based silver nanoparticles employing sodium alginate (Na-Alg) as reducing agent to functionalize wool fabric surface. This research aims to enhance the antimicrobial activity and UV resistance of wool fabrics treated with synthesized silver nanoparticles. The resulting products were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy spectra (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and UV-visible absorbance. The result… Show more

“…It has already proved that the Ag ions and Ag compounds are decidedly antibacterial towards almost all bacterial strains. 83 AgNPs have been broadly used in the medial sector, food packaging, textile functionalization, and other environmental as a strong and controllable antibacterial agent. 84 Therefore, the current report emphasized the practical application of the as-synthesized AgNPs as antibacterial agents against gram-negative (E. coli) and gram-positive (S. aureus) bacteria.…”

“…AgNPs exhibit bright and fascinating color appearances due to the LSPR properties (Mahmud et al, 2018). This LSPR feature of AgNPs facilitates the diversified color appearances from brilliant light to bright colors on the OCFs surfaces after their in situ deposition without applying any traditional/synthetic dyestuffs.…”
