The use of a sustainable future has led to the recognition of the crucial role played by the combination of materials, energy, and resource efficiency. The integration in question exemplifies the fundamental concepts of circularity, the optimisation of resources, and the responsible management of the environment. The focal point lies in the conscientious acquisition and administration of materials, as well as the prudent utilisation of energy resources and the reduction of waste. This abstract explores the importance of incorporating materials, energy, and resource efficiency in order to achieve sustainability. It emphasises concrete, practical applications that exemplify the feasibility and transformative capacity of this integrated approach. There are many practical applications of the utilisation of reclaimed wood for the production of sustainable furniture, the incorporation of recycled steel in the construction of building structures, and the integration of eco-friendly composites in the manufacturing processes of the automotive industry. The electronics sector is currently integrating circular economy principles into its operations by adopting strategies that prioritise the ease of disassembly, repair, and recycling of items. Apple and similar corporations have implemented recycling initiatives aimed at refurbishing and repurposing outdated equipment, thereby prolonging their lifespan and reducing the generation of electronic waste. By examining these actual applications and others, it becomes evident that the incorporation of materials, energy, and resource efficiency not only corresponds with sustainability objectives but also yields concrete environmental, economic, and societal advantages.

This study investigated incorporating fish scale powder (FSP) as a bio‐filler into polylactic acid (PLA) raw material for polymeric 3D printing. The PLA/FSP filaments were evaluated for various properties (tensile strength, tensile modulus, elongation, diameter deviation, thermogravimetric analysis, surface roughness, and SEM analysis) at different compositions (PLA, PLA/FSP10, PLA/FSP20, and PLA/FSP30 wt%). The results revealed that PLA filaments reinforced with 20 wt% FSP achieved the highest tensile strength, and modulus is 44.49 MPa and 2.83 GPa. The filaments reinforced with neat PLA and PLA with 10 wt% fish scale powder exhibited minor diameter deviations of +0.002 and −0.002. The surface roughness of the neat PLA filament is notably higher, registering a value of 1.459 μm. This finding highlights the importance of considering surface characteristics in filament selection for 3D printing applications. The microscopic analysis confirmed a uniform distribution of FSP particles in the 20 wt% composition PLA/FSP filaments. These results suggest that PLA/FSP (20 wt%) is an optimal feedstock for 3D printing, especially in developing biomaterials like bio‐scaffolds.

Friendship Degree and Tenth Man Strategy: A New Method for Differentiating Between Erroneous Readings and True Events in Wireless Sensor Networks

Event-driven Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) consist of thousands of tiny nodes. Sensor nodes are prone to faults because of their fragility and the fact that they are typically placed in harsh environments. Erroneous readings pose a high risk in many situations and affect the network's reliability, necessitating a solution to distinguish between true and faulty events. In response to this challenge, this work proposes the Friendship Degree and Tenth Man Strategy (FD-TMS) method for true event detection in WSNs. This new method can differentiate between erroneous readings and true events in a distributed manner. The FD idea has previously been used to solve security problems, while military intelligence operations have inspired the TMS and have never been used in WSNs. The FD-TMS consists of two stages. In the first stage, it employs a majority voting approach considering the friendship degree among voters. Voting among only trustworthiness nodes with high FD values will effectively differentiate true events and incorrect measurements. The second stage will validate the voting process through a novel perspective based on the TMS. TMS will check the voters' replies based on the event's location. The proposed method will delete erroneous readings, while only the true event reports will be reported. FD-TMS was comprehensively assessed in a simulation environment utilizing a performance analysis tool constructed on Java. The results were compared to the baseline algorithm, highlighting key parameters like false alarms and event detection accuracy. The simulation results demonstrated the proposed approach significantly enhanced the performance of the baseline works.
