Utilization of Sodium Chloride Solutions to Obtain Ferrous Chlorides

Abstract: In this work, the processes of electrochemical processing of sodium chloride solutions with the production of iron (III) chloride and alkali in a three-chamber electrolyzer with MA-41 anion-exchange membrane and MK-40 cation-exchange membrane were investigated. The conditions for the removal of sodium chloride from water in a three-chamber electrolyzer using an iron anode were determined depending on the anode current density and the reaction of the medium in the anode region. The parameters of the process of … Show more

“…2, the level of water hardness in permeate gradually increases with an increase in the degree of permeate selection. 5), sulfates (6), alkalinity (7) when filtering artesian water (H = 8.72 mg-eq/dm 3 , С Ca 2+ = 6.24 mg-eq/dm 3 ; A = 8.08 mg-eq/dm 3 ; С Cl -= 11.34 mg/dm 3 ; С SO4 2-= 10.10 mg/dm 3 ; рН = 7.67) (Р р = 3 atm) (V = 11 dm 3 , V n = 1 dm 3 ) However, even with the selection of 90% of the permeate, the hardness of the water did not exceed 0.34 mg-eq/dm 3 . A similar trend was observed when the alkalinity of permeate changed.…”

“…The use of ion exchange in water softening processes allows working within a wide range of pH of the solution and reaching a given depth of water softening [Lubavina et al 2007;Shabliy et al 2010]. The disadvantage of the method is the formation of significant volumes of liquid waste during the regeneration of cationites with a level of mineralization.…”

“…Paper [8] shows that even with complex use, recently developed methods of removing ions from water, including ion 3 and an H 2 SO 4 compound concentration of 300-2100 mg-equiv/dm 3 . A plate made of stainless steel was used as the cathode, and a plate made of titanium covered with ruthenium oxide and lead was used as the anode.…”
