Utilization of Satellite Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) for Land Cover Classification Nutmeg Plantation In Tapaktuan Sub-District

Abstract: This research seeks to utilize technology remote sensing with satellite Landsat 8 OLI imagery by classification method to obtain the area of ??land cover used for nutmeg plantations in Tapaktuan Sub District. Several stages of image data processing methods have been done such as geometric correction of images, image cropping and image clsification. The result of geometric correction of image obtained RMS error of 0.011235 pixel, The geometric correction process has met the tolerance limit error > 1 pixel.&#x… Show more

“…while User Accurasy was obtained in the range of 17.44% -99.84% and identification of point errors in the bush, plantation and open land classes. The Overall Accurasy value is 98.6190 and the Kappa Coefficient is 0.8557. from the results of the classification test of the two images meet the requirements set by USGS which states the accuracy of the interpretation of more than 80% (according Ardiansyah, 2015) [3] and the results of the Landsat-8 image classification in Tapaktuan District can be used to determine the expansion of the land cover.…”

“…Mapping the suitability of groundwater for irrigation using GIS in Najaf Governorate, Iraq has also been carried out, an Irrigation Water Quality Index (IWQI) for groundwater in an environmental Geographic Information System (GIS) is proposed so that it can be used in assessing the vulnerability of groundwater (Nobrega and Filho, 2014). Land suitability is needed for settlement development to determine the level of land use change using GIS (Audah, 2018); (Audah et al, 2019). Based on soil permeability, topography and geology it is useful to see the suitability of land for residential areas after ten years after the tsunami in Banda Aceh, Indonesia which focuses on the application of GIS in handling spatial data permeability, slope and soil geology in accordance with FAO standards and observed land suitability and measured for residential purposes (Rusdi et al, 2015).…”
