Utilization of family characteristics in nutritional classification of preschool children

Abstract: Methodologies useful in classifying preschool children into nutritional categories are presented and evaluated with respect to classification accuracy. The methodologies are illustrated with data from a study conducted by the National Nutrition Council of the Philippines on the relationships of family characteristics and preschool children's nutritional levels. We have demonstrated that reasonably good classification ability can be achieved with rather simple statistical methodologies.
