Show more

“…For example, information about patients' personal characteristics, such as age or level of motivation, symptoms and their level of severity, the treatment phase, positive disposition or satisfaction, may provide valuable information when choosing the most appropriate means of support in real‐world clinical settings. From a clinician's perspective, despite the increasing evidence supporting the effectiveness of mHealth interventions (Fairburn & Patel, ; Fairburn & Rothwell, ; Juarascio et al, ; Luxton et al, ; Tregarthen et al, ), clinicians are often resistant to use them and to change their traditional therapeutic procedures (González‐Peña, Torres, Barrio, & Olmedo, ). According to our findings, one of the main concerns raised by clinicians is the loss of nonverbal information from the client and the difficulty of establishing an adequate therapeutic relationship, next to privacy issues and confidentiality.…”

“…It is true that in northern Europe (i.e., Holland, Sweden), research related to IBIs is more advanced than in the South, e.g., in Spain, where the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) by psychologists is lower (22, 26, 27). A recent study in Spain shows that only 26% of the sample of psychologists analyzed used ICTs, and only 2.31% of the sample used web-based interventions (28). The main drawbacks emphasized in this study are potential difficulties related to the therapeutic alliance and the limitations of nonverbal communication, followed by confidentiality issues and technical problems in handling the data (28).…”
