Using PCM, an Experimental Study on Solar Stills Coupled with and without a Parabolic Trough Solar Collector

Abstract: Performance a double slope of the solar still Integrated With or without parabolic trough collector is investigated experimentally. To improve the output of a double slope solar still, a number of initiatives have been undertaken, using wax as a phase change material (PCM) with a parabolic trough collector. A parabolic trough collector (PTC) transfers incident solar energy to the solar still through a water tube connected to a heat exchanger embedded in used microcrystalline wax. Experiments were carried out a… Show more

“…The overall output will be more compared to desalination without PCM. Jaber et al [63], improved the performance of double slope solar still by increasing the evaporation rate of the system using a parabolic trough collector integrated into a heat exchanger tube submerged in a wax basin coupled with a solar still. So, the temperatures and productivity of sun stills with parabolic trough collectors are higher than those without solar stills.…”

“…The depth of the water in the distilled basin was (20 mm). An increase in productivity was obtained using the parabolic trough, and productivity was increased by (37.3%) and (42%) respectively [7]. The addition of the energy matrix to the solar distiller has led to increased productivity and ease of use, efficient performance, and the addition of good performance nanoparticles and increased efficiency has led to the recommendation of using this technique [8].…”
