Abstract:In this paper we develop a new method of parabolic equation (PE) for calculation of both high-frequency and small-angle taper (or collimator) impedances. The applicability of PE in the high-frequency limit is based on the observation that in this case the contribution to impedance comes from the electromagnetic waves that catch up with the beam far from the obstacle and propagate at small-angles to the axis of the pipe. One of the most important advantages of PE is that it eliminates the spatial scale of the s… Show more
We discuss several analytical models for impedances of very short bunches. The approximate analytical models are compared with direct solution of Maxwell's equations.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
