“…This shows the antilipid peroxidative effect of the combination of paeonol and danshensu against injury caused by free radicals. In this context, previous studies have shown danshensu and paeonol exerted significant GSH-elevating and MDA-scavenging effect in a PK-PD model of MI [41] and in a D-gal-induced cognitive impairment model, respectively [42].…”

“…Thirtytwo grams of Danshen crude drug per 10 ml of injection was used. In Danshen injection, the phenolic acids including salvianolic acid A and B, danshensu and protocatechuic aldehyde are the major hydrophilic components and pharmacologically active constituents (Zhang et al, 2005;Li et al, 2009;Chen et al, 2011). According to the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, danshensu and protocatechuic aldehyde were quantified for the quality control of preparation in the quality standard of Danshen injection.…”

“…The feasibility of the injection dose was examined in the preliminary experiments. Briefly, doses of 20, 40, 60 and 80 mg/kg were selected for the preliminary experiments according to certain studies (14,15). At 60 mg/kg/day, danshensu exerted the maximum antitumor effect, therefore, this dose was selected for use in the combination study with irradiation, which was diluted in 0.2 ml sterile 0.9% normal saline.…”
