Traditional Filipino games are activities played across generations, making use of local resources. This study aimed to gain a better understanding of teachers' experiences with integrating traditional Filipino games into the Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH) instruction of local public schools. Utilizing a basic qualitative research design, this study sought to grasp the present scenario in elementary schools through in-depth interviews and prolonged engagement with the six teachers chosen using inclusion criteria. Employing thematic analysis using Lichtman's (2017) three Cs, three major themes with a total of thirteen subthemes emerged as key findings of this research: (1) Valuing Games for Education with Sub-themes, (a) Reminiscing Childhood Games, (b) Recognizing Games Positive Impact in the Classroom, (c) Treasuring Traditional Filipino Games, (2) Overcoming Obstacles with Sub-themes (a) Motivating Unengaged Learners to Move amidst Media and Technology, (b) Managing Unruly Learners during Games, (c) Lacking Facilities and Supplies, (d) Limiting Opportunities for Playtime, (3) Strategizing in a Dynamic Learning Environment with Sub-themes (a) Encouraging Active Exploration, (b) Using Cues and Procedures to Refocus Positive Behavior (c) Improvising Space and Materials (d) Initiating Opportunities for Play, (e) Using Differentiated Playing Experiences, (f) Collaborating with Other Teachers. The results of this research provide supporting baseline data for enhancing the delivery of MAPEH instruction and promoting relevant, indigenized, and localized education through traditional games.

The research identified the Rural Street Games (RSG) of the chosen Municipalities of Ilocos Norte, Philippines, and the Benefits of RSG in promoting Filipino rural identity. The design of this research is Descriptive Design. The six towns of Ilocos Norte, Bacarra, Dumalneg, Pasuquin, Banna, Marcos, and Solsona, were selected to conduct the study. The researchers employed informal interviews and focus group discussions. The research mainly identified rural street games played in Ilocos Norte, Philippines: hide and seek, line crossing game, cow jumping, onion base, and kick game. Playing enhances the intellectual domain, physical domain, and some Filipino values of the players. This research's importance may also reduce to its specific aim, which is exercising socialization. Better communication starts in a simple game. Therefore, playing rural street games carries with it the best practice on how we preserve, strengthen and exercise our traits as Filipinos.

This study examines the experience of elementary physical education (PE) teachers who teach traditional Filipino games online. The study, which is anchored on the Giorgi's descriptive phenomenology and the Community of Inquiry theory, examines how teachers conduct online classes, how interpersonal relationships and interactions occur, and how, in the process, student learning happens. The analysis of interview transcripts using Giorgi's phenomenological reduction helped shed light on the experiences of the 30 elementary PE teachers. Specifically, the study found that the trial-and-error method of teaching traditional Filipino games online still exists despite teachers' participation in several training activities. Additionally, teachers face several technological challenges due to the need for more technical support and services, despite several requests that they made to their administrators. Furthermore, the limited social interaction and space in online education, alongside their pedagogical and technical problems, hamper the quality of teaching, resulting in diluted enthusiasm, learning, and appreciation for traditional games among students. Thus, teaching traditional Filipino games online has pedagogical and technological issues that should be addressed. However, PE teachers' determination and initiative ensured that students continue with their online learning despite the various problems faced. PE teachers self-studied, self-financed, and harnessed their networks, especially in learning the foundations of technology for online teaching and resolving technical issues. Therefore, more initiatives to help them acquire up-to-date and relevant knowledge, skills, and tools for teaching skill-based topics are necessary to succeed in online education.
