“…Studies conducted on Heartfulness practitioners also find positive effects, with improvement in sleep in patients with chronic insomnia ( Thimmapuram et al, 2020 ), reduction of burnout ( Thimmapuram et al, 2019 ), emotional wellness ( Thimmapuram et al, 2017 ), reduced stress and improved coping and well-being in middle school students ( Iyer and Iyer, 2019 ), reduced stress and improved mood in teenagers ( Yadav et al, 2021 ), and positive effects within an integrative healthcare program on coping and health-related quality of life of patients with cyclic vomiting syndrome ( Venkatesan et al, 2021 ). Most recently, virtual Heartfulness Meditation sessions with a trainer were shown to be associated with a reduction in loneliness and improvement in sleep in healthcare providers during the COVID-19 pandemic ( Thimmapuram et al, 2021 ).…”

“…Heartfulness is a contemplative tradition with a global presence that enables practitioners to experience the transcendence of individual human consciousness with the use of a few simple practices ( Patel and Pollock, 2018 ). Scientific studies of Heartfulness have started exploring the effects of these different practices on human beings (for example, Thimmapuram et al, 2017 , 2019 , 2020 , 2021 ; Arya et al, 2018 ; Iyer and Iyer, 2019 ; Yadav et al, 2021 ). To increase our understanding of the impact of Heartfulness on a deeper level, a clear description of the different practices of this tradition is required, in addition to understanding the philosophy upon which the practices are based.…”

“…In HM, a practitioner is allowed to perform meditation along with the trainer (guru), who initiates the transmission as per procedure [2]. Research shows the benefits of HM in moderating vital heart parameters Heart rate, respiration rate, Systolic blood pressure [3], and stress level [4][5][6]. Studies carried out on HM during the COVID-19 pandemic situation indicate that HM helps to regulate overall anger, mood, depression [4], stress, and sleep quality [5].…”

“…These eccentric and concentric visual stimulations at the theta–alpha rhythm may induce oscillatory entrainment. This brainwave entrainment is a new non-invasive technique able to reconfigure the oscillatory dynamics of the brain for a better mental health and cognitive performance ( Lakatos et al, 2019 ; Addante et al, 2021 ; Poltorak, 2021 ; Quirk et al, 2021 ; Yadav et al, 2021 ).…”
