PM 2.5 , PM 10 and TSP source profiles for road dust, soil dust and re-suspended dust were established by adopting a resuspension chamber in the coastal oilfield city of Dongying. Thirty-nine elements, nine ions, organic and elemental carbon were analyzed by multiple methods. The results indicate that Ca, Si, OC, Ca 2+ , Al, Fe and SO 4 2-were the most abundant species for all the three types of dust within the three size fractions. OC/TC ratios were highest for dusts in Dongying when compared with those in the literature, which may be related to the large amounts of oil that is consumed in this area. Na, Mg and Na + in soil and road dust also exhibited higher mass percentages, indicating the influence of sea salt, as the city is close to the coast. Enrichment factors analysis showed that Cd, Ca, Cu, Zn, Ba, Ni, Pb, Cr, Mg and As were enriched, and these elements were more abundant in finer fractions of the fugitive dust. Similarities of the profiles for different size fractions and different types of dust were compared using the coefficient of divergence (CD). The profiles for different types of dust were different from each other, as the CD values were mostly higher than 0.30. In contrast, the profiles for different size fractions of each dust were similar to each other, with the CD values mostly lower or near to 0.30. From analyzing the relationship between crustal material's mass percentages and the total measured mass percentages of all chemical species, it can be concluded that the sources of road dust and resuspended dust are more complex, especially for fine particles.

Drip irrigation systems have been widely applied in semiarid and arid regions of China. However, little is known about the migration of heavy metals in cultivated soil under drip irrigation. Therefore, the concentrations of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn in soil were determined. The mean contents of Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Zn, and Ni in surface soil subjected to irrigation with low and high amounts of water (W1 and W2) were 0.11, 117.50, 37.51, 13.53, 78.10, and 38.41 mg/kg and 0.20, 94.45, 29.71, 22.48, 63.00, and 36.62 mg/kg, respectively. Metal concentrations in deep soil varied slightly between W1 and W2. Among different distances from the dropper, the metal levels in surface soil varied widely, while they varied slightly in deep soil. The I geo (geo-accumulation index) values indicated that the soil was usually contaminated by Cr, Cu, and Cd. Under W1, Cd and Cu usually accumulated in surface soil near the dropper, while the other metals leached into subsurface soil. Moreover, the metals generally accumulated in soil away from the dropper. However, significant leaching of metals to the subsurface and deep soil was observed near the dropper under W2. Away from the dropper, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, and Pb usually accumulated in surface and deep soil. This suggested that heavy metals generally migrated to the soil away from the dropper when subjected to lower amounts of irrigation, while metals usually moved to surface soil and deep soil under high irrigation amounts. These findings indicate that drip irrigation greatly affected the distribution and migration of heavy metals in soil, with irrigation with lower amounts of irrigation water significantly affecting the horizontal migration of heavy metals and higher amounts influencing the vertical movement of heavy metals.

The microbial diversity within cave ecosystems is largely unknown. This study aimed to studying the microbial communities of the three caves viz Mossy, Hotel and Reda caves which are located approximately 200 km of Riyadh region, between Riyadh and Al Kharj road, Saudi Arabia. These caves have an intricate cave system which developed in the calcareous sandstone and clay. Morphological interpretation revealed that Mossy cave was different from Hotel and Reda caves where it is tall and have a linear cave passage and narrow canyons. Various field studies revealed that many bacteria inhibited in caves and obtained their energy from degradation of inorganic substances, thus they directly interact with the surfaces where they live on. In present study, soil and wall dust samples were collected and cultured on Nutrient agar, starch nitrate agar and PDA plates. During study various Gram positive, Gram negative bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi were isolated from the cave soil and wall. The isolated bacteria were characterized and identified by using culture-dependent methods (morphological and physiological methods). Identifications of the most occurring bacterial genera were confirmed by using 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing which revealed the presence of 11 broad taxonomic species of bacteria. Among these, Proteobacteria were dominant in all caves and this was followed by Actinobacteria, Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes. Majority of the true bacterial isolates belong to the genera Alcaligenes, Bacillus, Brevibacterium, Klebsiella, Planomicrobium, Shigella, Pseudomonas and Staphylococcus.
