Using Fuzzy AHP Method to Evaluate Key Competency and Capabilities of Selecting Middle Managers for Global Shipping Logistics Service Providers

Abstract: The main purpose of this article is to use the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method to empirically study the key competency and capabilities affecting the selection of middle managers for global shipping logistics service providers (GSLSPs). To facilitate this theme for obtaining key competency and capabilities, a list of five management competency with twenty-five capabilities are preliminary summarized. Subsequently, the proposed fuzzy AHP method is applied to measure relative weights for evaluating… Show more

“…Some case of these studies can be found in literature such as ERP platform selection (Huiqun & Guang, 2012), customer-centric product design process (Lin et al, 2008), open-source EMR (Electronic Medical Record) software packages (Zaidan et al, 2015). The TOPSIS method consists of the following stages (Tsaur, 2011) (Ding, 2012):…”

“…In the existing literature, many works are devoted to the evaluation of LSPs at domestic and foreign level. For example, Ding, Kuo, and Tai [13] use the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method to empirically study the key competency and capabilities affecting the selection of middle managers for global shipping logistics service providers (GSLSPs). Jain and Khan [14] formulated the reverse logistics service provider selection as a multicriteria decision-making problem and developed a methodology to select the best two reverse logistics service providers for an injection moulding parts manufacturer company using analytical hierarchy process (AHP).…”

“…A genetic algorithm-based procedure is adopted to minimize the failure rates in fuzzy membership determination using Saaty's eigenvalue approach. The proposed method is then extended to develop an aggregate fuzzy membership function using a multiple decision-maker environment [56]. He examined Saaty's eigenvalue approach for fuzzy membership function determination.…”
