New technology has brought about a novel approach to play termed digital play. Digital play shares many characteristics with traditional play but also presents new possibilities (e.g., building concepts and skills about STEM, opportunities for physical, outdoor activities). Despite new toys with technological characteristics being popular, there is limited research on this specific area for children under four years old and their parents. This study explored parental perspectives and was part of a larger investigation that examined 68 (38 boys and 30 girls) very young children’s (1–4 years) engagement with technology-enhanced toys (TETs) in early childhood settings. A sequential explanatory design was employed, wherein parents completed questionnaires before and after their children engaged with TETs. Statistical and thematic analysis revealed that family demographics play an important role in children ‘s use of TETs and digital technologies (e.g., on the quality of engagement with their children during playing with TETs). Parents noted improvements in their children’s skills, including fine motor skills, language, and creativity. This study underscores the importance of considering parental backgrounds in digital technology initiatives for early childhood development. Policymakers and educators may benefit from these insights to tailor digital integration and support children’s digital competence effectively.

This study aims to describe the gadget phenomenon in early childhood social development. Technological developments, especially gadgets, have penetrated and even made early childhood consumers of gadgets. Despite the fact that gadgets are electronic tools for adult conversation, not toddlers. However, parents give gadgets in early childhood as a way to calm children. To see the social development of early childhood while using gadgets, the researchers used the case studies research method. Data collection was carried out by observation and interviews. The results of the study show that parents should consider what image they convey to their children and how they communicate responsible smartphone consumption. So that gadgets as technological advances can still be used, but the social development of early childhood as social beings is not disturbed by the preoccupation with using gadgets.

Due to its accessibility, convenience, and capacity to meet a variety of learner needs, web tools have become increasingly popular as a way to acquire these abilities. However, there is lack of study on the efficacy of web tools in fostering creativity and the role that web tools play in this process. It prompts to critically examine whether these virtual learning environments are genuinely successful in cultivating creative skills and, if they are, how web tools function as catalysts for their effectiveness. Thus, this paper aims to investigate the effectiveness of web 2.0 tools using Canva and Figma in enhancing creativity in the domain of visual content creation. The methodology was adapted and modified from the Kirkpatrick's evaluation model, focusing on four key levels: (1) Reaction, (2) Learning, (3) Behavior, and (4) Results. The participants for the training were undergraduate students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris dan Universitas Mercu Buana Y.ogyakarta The research design involves a multi-dimensional assessment that includes survey, and pre-test and post-test. The study findings indicate that graphic design web tools significantly contribute to the development of creativity in visual content. The lowest mean score value for the training is 4.26 and the highest mean score value is 4.48. The analysis highlights that the participants experienced notable improvements in their creative skills after completing the training, with an increase in the quality and diversity of their visual content. The adapted evaluation model provides a holistic understanding of the impact of digital learning on participants, including their reactions, the knowledge acquired, changes in creative behavior, and the tangible outcomes of their creative endeavors.
