Using a New Combination of P&O and ICM Methods for the Experimental Validation of MPPT Efficacy

Abstract: All over the world, photovoltaic (PV) systems have now become a hopeful way to obtain transition to sustainable energy. Under different operating conditions, the voltage and maximum power generated by PV arrays can differ. The present study aims to employ a PV experimental model to propose a technique for tracking the maximum power point using a new control method for DC-DC converters. The Perturb and Observe (P&O) and Incremental Conductance Method (ICM) were combined to obtain a new combination method. The t… Show more

“…Climate factors, like temperature and irradiance, have a direct impact on the I-V curve of a PV module, leading to deviations in its maximum power point (MPP) [62], [63]. Considering that, practical PV systems operate in dynamic conditions where these factors are continuously fluctuating, it becomes essential to continuously adjust the operating point of the PV module to match the new MPP [64], [65].…”

“…In Grid-Connected Systems, standard power consumers are connected to the generator via an inverter (DC-AC converter) The task of the inverter is to transform the direct current coming out of the panels into an alternating current. In grid-connected systems, the inverter replaces the batteries, in this case, it is the basic element in these types of systems [10].…”
