User-Configured Monitor-to-Printer Color Reproduction

Abstract: Every type of color imaging device has its own color reproduction method, providing color characteristic information. Thus, a color management system with an ICC profile is generally used to reproduce colors between two different color imaging devices, for example, from a monitor to a printer. However, once the ICC profile of a device is measured and stored, it usually remains unchanged. Yet, a user can sometimes control the monitor configuration, such as the color temperature, contrast, and brightness, accord… Show more

“…To solve this challenge, we developed a color management system that defines an "Absolute Colorimetric" profile to separate eight ink cartridges into eight independent channels (C 1 , M 1 , Y 1 , K 1 , C 2 , M 2 , Y 2 , and K 2 ) that can create a one-toone correspondence map between the "percent value" of each color in an image and the "printing volume" of each channel. 33,34 Most importantly, we developed a "Multichannel Combiner" function to merge two carefully designed CMYK images…”

“…Display devices, in particular, can show different results based on the time and content displayed. Under such environments, images captured by a digital camera should be mapped onto a 3D facial avatar with the same color appearance as that of the real object [10]. To solve this problem, the color management should be defined throughout all processes.…”
