Usefulness of dynamic urethral resistance relation (DURR) measurement for differential diagnosis between static and dynamic urinary obstruction in male spinal cord injury patients

Abstract

Pattern A showed a sensitivity with respect to the dynamic obstruction of 79% and a specificity of 100%. The sensitivity of pattern B with respect to the diagnosis of static obstruction was 71% and the specificity was 100%.

Whereas ‘static’ bladder outlet obstruction voiding dysfunction, as a consequence of prostate enlargement in men, is well defined and consensus exists about testing, agreement about definition and quantification of ‘dynamic’ outlet dysfunction, in (younger) men or women the situation is less well defined or accepted . The ICI‐RS Think Tank chose to discuss especially urethral and pelvic floor function and functional tests (whether or not introduced for analysis of continence function); however, imaging is also included in the review tables and mentioned briefly in some parts of this report.…”
