“…Rorschach himself died shortly after the publication of his famous work, but a tremendous amount of research has followed. The test is widely used in clinical diagnosis (103,104,108,124), has been introduced in the armed services for research and diagnostic purposes (112,113), and has been applied to a variety of problems, including psychopathology (104,124,133), developmental psychology (122,126,127) and recently to vocational guidance (134) (106). There is probably no topic in psychology concerning which pro and con feeling runs higher, but despite the rash enthusiasm of converts and the blind opposition of skeptics, it has grown in use and reputation.…”

“…These authors were able to differentiate correctly 88% of the 78 cases in terms of their being outstanding or poor mechanical workers. In a recent article Piotrowski (22) reports: "The Rorschach ratings of seventy-eight workers were compared with ratings made independently by the foremen. The investigation indicates that general personality traits have a bearing even on mechanical work."…”

“…Davidson (27), studying 142 gifted children with a mean IQ of 143, found these children well adjusted emotionally, and family income no significant source of variation in influencing the personality pattern of the child or in determining the degree of adjustment. Piotrowski (101,102) developed eight Rorschach components corresponding to the same number of desirable traits in mechanical work and suggested that this approach, which is actually the "sign" approach, can be developed for educational and vocational guidance in other areas. Margulies (85) likewise utilized signs of adjustment in studying successful and unsuccessful students in Grades VIII and IX, and found that unsuccessful students showed significantly more color shock, shading shock, and animal responses.…”
