The present study addresses the research gap in studies on the role of metalinguistic awareness and language dominance amongst EFL learners in the Saudi context. It empirically contributes to the research context on metalinguistic awareness and its association to the phenomenon of language dominance in the language development of EFL learners. The study was conducted in the English Department of Hail University, Saudi Arabia. Using systematic random sampling set at 95% level of confidence with proper observance of the assumptions in inferential statistics, results revealed that most of the respondents were Bilingual English Dominant (BED). Moreover, there is a highly favorable level of metalinguistic awareness on learning L2, knowledge and regulation categories were registered among the respondents. In like manner, the respondents reported a medium level of language dominance on use and exposure which is a sign of their departure from the full dominance of their L1 into mastering English language. Further, test of correlation showed a high direct and positive interaction between metalinguistic awareness and language dominance (r= .923) indicating that the higher the level of metalinguistic awareness the more the students manifest a favorable adherence to their dominant language. Findings positively contribute on how curriculum and language experts may adopt English language teaching strategies to prepare Saudi EFL learners become proficient speakers to participate in the global market and set them firmly on their career path.

Plagiarism is an ethical misconduct affecting the quality, readability, and trustworthiness of scholarly publications. Improving researcher awareness of plagiarism of words, ideas, and graphics is essential for avoiding unacceptable writing practices. Global editorial associations have publicized their statements on strategies to clean literature from redundant, stolen, and misleading information. Consulting related documents is advisable for upgrading author instructions and warning plagiarists of academic and other consequences of the unethical conduct. A lack of creative thinking and poor academic English skills are believed to compound most instances of redundant and "copy-and-paste" writing. Plagiarism detection software largely relies on reporting text similarities. However, manual checks are required to reveal inappropriate referencing, copyright violations, and substandard English writing. Medical researchers and authors may improve their writing skills and avoid the same errors by consulting the list of retractions due to plagiarism which are tracked on the PubMed platform and discussed on the Retraction Watch blog.

This study aimed to investigate language teachers' pedagogical concepts and attitudes and the effect of these on students' motivation and engagement levels. Its results were based on a cross-sectional correlational research survey which was conducted online. The participants in the study were chosen at random from among 205 language teachers (n= 205) and 317 language students (n= 317) from various higher educational institutions in Asian countries. Results of the study of language teachers revealed that the respondents' pedagogical ideas and orientations were positive when it came to using technology-based teaching in their language classroom. Results of gender differences indicated that female language teachers showed a firmer belief in student-centered online language learning than their male counterparts. On the other hand, males are more likely than females to utilize technology in the language classroom, and their attitudes relating to it are more favorable than those of their female counterparts. The levels of language learning motivation and engagement among students were also investigated. The findings also showed a high level of language learning engagement among both male and female students. Furthermore, the test of relationship showed that the firmer the instructors' belief in the importance of student-centered teaching and the incorporation of technology in the language classroom, the more driven and engaged the students are in language learning. Students' motivation and involvement in online language learning are not related to their views about the significance of instructors in their life, which is contrary to what many people believe. When it comes to incorporating technology into language courses, there are several pedagogical assumptions that enable EFL teachers to do so effectively. More broadly stated, this study has implications for increasing language instructors' digital literacy to develop more motivating, productive, and engaging language courses for 21st-century learning to improve language students' digital literacy.
