“…Meanwhile, TOC content was the key factor affecting the magnitude and relative compositions of microbial communities, especially Planctomycetes and Proteobacteria . Results of previous studies have demonstrated that some carbon sources derived from non-petroleum hydrocarbons (biogenic and anthropogenic carbonaceous organic compounds) are more readily metabolized by microorganisms which results in competitive metabolism with PHs 42 . Nevertheless, due to the accumulation of specialized PHs degrading microorganisms, as well as formation of co-metabolic pathways on PHs and non-petroleum hydrocarbon degradation by microbes 43 , the negative correlation between TOC content and degradation extent of PHs was not observed after initial stages of incubations of soils.…”

“…In turn, Hernández et al [58] used a culture-dependent approach and showed that filter cake application to the sugarcane soil increases colonies of phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms, total bacteria, and fungi. In addition, Tellechea et al [59] showed higher microbial activity in sugarcane soil with filter cake application based on traditional methods of CO 2 determination. These results are an important indicative that the microorganisms present in the filter cake are able to increase available P in the soil solution and then to improve its absorption by plants, which can be highlighted in the tropical soil condition, such as Oxisol, that has high P content adsorbed in the soil by the internal sphere complex (unavailable for plants).…”

“…On the other hand, according to the criteria given by various studies [11,[33][34][35], it can be useful to integrate the kinetics of the process to forecast scenarios of remediation activities, considering the time to obtain an acceptable pollutant removal.…”
