Use of Smart 3d Printing Technology in Conventional Engineering Production to Detect and Prevent the Occurrence of Defects

Abstract: This article aims to show how to effectively use innovation in the form of 3D printing to create simple, smart, and cheap products, which will lead to more efficient product control, reveal defects in conventional engineering production, and prevent blemishes. The article is focused on the detection and prevention of defects in classic Czech engineering manufacture using an innovative solution, which connects conventional production and SMART technology of 3D printing. The motivation of this article is to sho… Show more

“…1 lists the most common human errors with examples of situations they can cause. The Poka-Yoke methodology tries to prevent the given errors and eliminate them thanks to simple modifications in the process or its preparations [10]. The Poka-Yoke methodology can best be understood through examples.…”

“…The ultimate goal of their project is to understand whether the internal components of a finished and hermetically sealed product have been assembled correctly. In [17], the usefulness brought by a commercial 3D printer in the quality control area is explored, following the Poka Yoke spirit. It underlines the capability of 3D printers of producing highly customised, cheap tools that are useful for quality checks if combined with the Poka Yoke methodology.…”

“…In tube production, which is discussed further in the paper, the operations of forming, pressing, and heat treatment are in the production process [20,21]. Improving manufacturing processes and procedures is a goal of all manufacturing companies and includes lean manufacturing principles, the use of dynamic simulation, and 3D technology as a tool for process improvement [22][23][24][25].…”
