“…In the present study, we have investigated the effect of NPOE versus dioctyl phthalate (DOP) on the response of the liquid contact ISE for FLV determination. NPOE was the optimum mediator regarding membrane sensitivity and accuracy which is consistent with the previous literature [45]. This could be attributed to its higher dielectric constant which enhances membrane permeability and ions mobility.…”

“…Although the dielectric constant (Ԑo) of o-NPOE is the highest value, its nature can't affect results purely based on the electrode performance comparing with the nature of the drug that has primary amine active sides and adding the tetraphenyl borate (TPB) as ion-exchanger or additive in the membrane. Therefore, the results confirm that the dielectric constant of the plasticizers, used as solvent-mediators, does not effect in a significant manner the potentiometric detection limit of the membrane in the case of an FLX drug [38]. Remarkably, the effect of the presence of MIP, NIP and TPB individually in the membranes also can be investigated.…”

“…They act as solvents that mediate the movement of ionic species within the membrane matrix. 33,34 Plasticizers are the most abundant membrane component that represents around two-thirds of the membrane composition to guarantee mobility within the PVC matrix and to enhance membrane exibility and elasticity. The utilized plasticizer should be compatible with PVC, possessing high lipophilicity and low viscosity.…”

“…The utilized plasticizer should be compatible with PVC, possessing high lipophilicity and low viscosity. 33,34 The study investigated the inuence of ve different plasticizers namely DBP, DOP, NPPE, NPOE, and TCP, while using PT as the ion-exchanger throughout sensors 4 through 8 (Table 1). Sensor-4 containing TCP demonstrated adequate Nernstian response, wide linear range, low LOQ, and high correlation coefficient (Fig.…”
