Abstract: Introduction: American cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL) affects over one million people annually worldwide. Its spread enables Leishmania-parasites invading the skin, mucosa, and body-fluids including saliva. Detection of Leishmania-DNA in saliva, has been proposed as a non-invasive method.
