The development of concurrent dermatophytosis in cats receiving immunosuppressive drugs for the treatment of pemphigus foliaceus was not reported in either of two large studies . “…Several studies have investigated the use of oral ciclosporin A (CsA) in cats with various skin disorders; the efficacy and safety of CsA for the treatment of feline allergic dermatoses has been reported in double‐blinded and randomized controlled trials . Additionally, CsA has been reported in retrospective and case series reports to be effective for other feline dermatological conditions including eosinophilic granuloma complex, urticaria pigmentosa, plasmacytic stomatitis, acquired alopecia (pseudopelade), pemphigus complex, idiopathic pruritus and dirty face syndrome of Persian cats . Mild adverse effects have been reported with oral CsA administration in cats, including hypersalivation, headshaking, vomiting, soft faeces, diarrhoea and gingival hyperplasia .…”

“…In these cases, a dose of 5 mg/kg SID PO in the dog and 7 mg/kg PO SID in the cat has been used. Ciclosporin is used in a variety of IMDs, and in pemphigus and the auto‐immune sub‐epidermal blistering diseases it is best used when the acute phase of the disease has been treated by other means (Irwin et al, ), whereas in alopecia areata, pseudopelade and sebaceous adenitis (SA), it can be used as a sole agent. In SA there is a marked improvement in many cases that are treated early enough, although after chronic therapy, areas of alopecia may return.…”
