Use of laser-induced break spectroscopy for the determination of major and trace elements in Zanthoxylum armatum

Abstract: Zanthoxylum armatum (ZA) is a medicinal plant (MP) that is widely distributed in hilly and moist areas and has a different medical effect on human curative functions. Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) was employed as a simple, easy, and accurate method to analyze the elemental profile of Zanthoxylum armatum (ZA) (timur). Various elements present in different parts of ZA were identified including sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, titanium, iron, barium, aluminum, lithium, and silicon. The propose… Show more

“…Experimental configurations used in this research work were the same as discussed in detail in our previous papers [25][26][27][28][29]. In brief; for the formation of plasma, the focused laser falls on the target material, this laser pulse energy vaporizes the material and produces plasma on its surface.…”

“…In India, more than 2500 plant species possess medicinal properties. According to the WHO, it is estimated that 20,000 different species of plants are used for developing various medicines around the globe [ 63 , 79 ], and these studies [ 56 , 57 , 58 , 80 , 81 , 82 , 83 , 84 , 85 , 86 , 87 , 88 , 89 , 90 , 91 , 92 , 93 , 94 , 95 , 96 , 97 ] were shown in Table 2 . Tripathi et al [ 85 ] determined the distribution of micro and macroelements in four Ocimum species: Ocimum basilicum , Ocimum sanctum , Ocimum gratissimum , and Ocimum americanum .…”
