“…Typically, the local recurrences are controlled by adjuvant radiation therapy. However, the delineation of tumor bed for radiation therapy is highly variable among radiation oncologists. This discrepancy among radiation therapy planning is of particular concern for APBI, in which only the tumor bed is irradiated. Our results show that aPTT can greatly reduce the risk of local recurrences by utilizing the heat generated by GBP-PEG upon laser irradiation to eliminate residual malignant cells, if any, after breast-conserving surgery.…”
