In order to determine if the CFB panel is superior to the CHB, this study, "Comparative Study of the Mechanical Properties of Coconut Fiber Cement Board and Concrete Hollow Blocks," compared the two products' prices, dead loads, and compressive strengths. Three samples of each of the two products were used in the experiment, which the researchers conducted. The tensile strength test, parametric test, and Universal Testing Machine (UTM) were used to gather the data for this study. The compressive strength test was performed at the TERMS Concrete and Materials Testing Laboratories Inc. in Tayuman, Manila. The study assumed that: CFBs are less expensive than CHBs; carry less weight than CHBs; and have greater structural strength. Results show that CFB has an average compressive strength of 1,004.167 PSI. In comparison to a CHB, the CFB has more compressive strength. The researchers also concluded that a CFB would carry less weight than a CHB at 5.4721 lb. In both panels' cost analyses, the price of CFB is deemed to be higher than the price of CHB. Fiber Cement Board (CFB) offers a substantially more cost-effective alternative. By enhancing the walling system for residential establishment, this study will benefit the Philippine construction industry.

Concrete construction is still the main choice because of its high strength, durability, and ability to withstand heavy loads. In reinforced concrete construction, formwork is a fairly important element. Formwork significantly impacts the efficiency of construction implementation. Formwork innovation has found PERI formwork to be a solution that many consider more efficient. Efficient use of PERI formwork is an important focus to increase productivity, minimize time, and reduce construction costs. This research aims to analyze the quality, cost, and implementation time of PERI formwork compared to conventional formwork in 2-story buildings. Quantitative methods are used to evaluate quality (strength of bending, safe deflection, and strength of the shear) using SAP 2000, implementation time using Microsoft Project, and project costs using unit price analysis. The research results show that using the PERI formwork system can provide various efficiencies in formwork work. PERI formwork has been proven stronger in withstanding loads and meets current load regulations. It can save project implementation time by up to 21 working days (24.7%) with a cost reduction of 4.72%. This is because the installation cycle is faster, which can increase productivity and reduce costs. So, using the PERI system formwork has proven efficient and can be the best choice for low-rise building construction projects.

Lateral Formwork Pressure for Self-Compacting Concrete—A Review of Prediction Models and Monitoring Technologies

The maximum amount of lateral formwork pressure exerted by self-compacting concrete is essential to design a technically correct, cost-effective, safe, and robust formwork. A common practice of designing formwork is primarily based on using the hydrostatic pressure. However, several studies have proven that the maximum pressure is lower, thus potentially enabling a reduction in the cost of formwork by, for example, optimizing the casting rate. This article reviews the current knowledge regarding formwork pressure, parameters affecting the maximum pressure, prediction models, monitoring technologies and test setups. The currently used pressure predicting models require further improvement to consider several pressures influencing parameters, including parameters related to fresh and mature material properties, mix design and casting methods. This study found that the maximum pressure is significantly affected by the concretes’ structural build-up at rest, which depends on concrete rheology, temperature, hydration rate and setting time. The review indicates a need for more in-depth studies.
