Background: Dialysis and its complications were debated recently. There was lack of an adjuvant renal replacement method to reduce the complications of patients with chronic renal failure and dialysis itself. Materials and methods: In this article, we reviewed the role of thermal sweating in treating of the patients with chronic renal failure, and the role of traditional Chinese medicine in the therapy of chronic kidney diseases. Results: Thermal sweating can reduce interdialytic weight gain and improve the patients' blood pressure; Chinese herbal medicine can promote the excretion of uremic toxicities and relieve the skin disorders of these patients. Conclusions: Traditional Chinese medicine-mediated hot bath could be one of the adjuvant renal replacement methods.

“…Tayvan'da bir dermatoloji polikliniğine başvuran hastalara uygulanan ankette, dermatolojik sorunlar için %41 oranında TAT kullanıldığı ve bu oranın <30 yaş, >50 yaş üstünde daha yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir 39 . Yine İngiltere'nin 2 ayrı bölgesinde yapılan çalışmada da dermatoloji polikliniğine başvuran hastaların üçte birinden fazlasının TAT yöntemlerine başvurduğu, bunların da %45'den fazlasının bu yöntemi dermatolojik sorunları için kullandığı bildirilmiştir 40 . Bazı TAT kullanımlarının ters etkilere, ilaç etkileşimlerine ve konvansiyonel tedavilerin yeterli kullanılmasını engellemeye neden olmaları sebebi ile, bu konuda doktor ve hastanın açık olarak konuşmaları önem kazanmaktadır.…”

ÖzetAlternatif tıp genellikle bağımsız ya da konvansiyonel tedavi yerine kullanılan yöntemleri ifade ederken, tamamlayıcı tıp ise temel olarak konvansiyonel tedaviye eşlik eden ya da onu tamamlayan yöntemler olarak tarif edilir. Kronik olup emosyonel olarak da hastayı oldukça yıpratan çok sayıda deri hastalığının konvansiyonel yöntemlerle tedavi edilememesi nedeniyle birçok hastanın bu yöntemler dışında tamamlayıcı ya da alternatif tedavileri denediği birçok dermatolog tarafından bilinmektedir.
