Use of C57BL/6N mice on the variety of immunological researches

Abstract: Inbred mice are an essential animal strain for research as they can improve the reproducibility and reliability of study results. The establishment of new inbred lines is continuing, and new inbred lines are being used in many research fields. C57BL/6 is a mouse laboratory animal that has been developed and used as an inbred strain since early stage of mouse strain development, and, in the 1950s, C57BL/6 was separated into substrains by the Jackson Laboratory (C57BL/6J) and the National Institutes of Health (C… Show more

“…Obviously, the closely related mouse strain C57BL/6NJ shares most of the sequence-specific variation that we found in C57BL/6J, but not all of them. Some of these may also help to explain the subtle differences between C57BL/6J and C57BL/6NJ in phenotypes, as often encountered by researchers (24).…”

“…Inbred mice have long been used in various immunological researches, including cell-mediated immunity, allergic response and anti-tumor mechanism, due to their reliability, reproducibility and scope of improvement of animal-based experiments [12]. As immunological researches involving inbred strains increases, strain differences of mice on the immunological response has received growing attention [13].…”

“…When using Cas9 mediated gene editing to generate genetically engineered models, constitutive or leaky expression of Cas9 can have a negative impact on the utility of the model. Since short induced expression of Cas9 is important to limit off target gene editing [28, 29], our aim was to create a sensitive but tightly regulated all-in-one inducible Cas9 system that could be used in a variety of genomic backgrounds of human and mouse origins as well as generating an inducible mouse.…”
