Use of alkali activated high-calcium fly ash binder for kaolin clay soil stabilisation: Physicochemical evolution

Abstract: This study addresses the use of alkali activated high-calcium fly ash-based binder to improve engineering characteristics of soft clay-rich soils as an alternative to common stabilisers. The physico-chemical reaction sequence has been investigated by considering the binder alone and the binder mixed with kaolin. An insight into the reactivity evidenced that calcium-containing phases derived from high-calcium fly ash represent the reactive phases and, hence, pozzolanic activity is the dominant process. New comp… Show more

“…It is noticeable the beneficial effect of CaSiO 3 as a possible corrective of soil acidity and calcium supply to the corn crop (Tables 5 and 6), since it positively impacted on soil fertility (Zanao et al, 2017;Liu et al, 2018;Coudert et al, 2019). When the lowest dose of CaSiO 3 without limestone was used, the proportional values of biomass were found in relation to the other doses (Table 6), and the recommended dose was to be used in a dystrophic red Latosol.…”

“…As a burgeoning kind of environmental protection building material, soil stabilizer has obtained a series of research achievements in water conservancy, road engineering, and other areas in recent years [2][3][4][5][6]. Many scholars have explored the research, development, and application of different soil stabilizers.…”
