Abstract:Thoracic endovascular aortic repair for aortic dissections is recognized as an
effective treatment. We herein report the case of a 72-year-old male with a Stanford
type B aortic dissection. A stent-graft and double-disk vascular occluder was used to
repair the primary and re-entry tears, respectively. At 3 month postoperatively,
computed tomographic angiography revealed no endoleaks, the stent-graft and vascular
occluder to be in optimal positions, the false lumen was almost completely
thrombosed, and the visc… Show more
“…There have been several few reports of the effective treatment of reentry tears for type B aortic dissection with a vascular occluder made for peripheral arteries. [3][4][5] In this case, enlargement of the thoracic false lumen was prevented by using the endovascular occlusion technique without organ ischemia. The thoracic false lumen was isolated from the abdominal false lumen using a false lumen occluder.…”

Central MessageWe report the results of a successful interventional exclusion of an aneurysmal false lumen of the descending aorta using a custom-made false lumen occluder.
