Usage of perioperative anxiety neuromarker for improving the quality of life of a patient operated on for critical stenosis of the internal carotid artery

Abstract: Significant changes were observed on the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HAD). Modern neurotechnologies measures are necessary to capture all the changes in the symptoms of anxiety before and after the operation for a carotid stenosis. ERPs might be used to select patients with neuromarker of perioperative anxiety, and subsequently to serve in proper psychological care and minimalize the perioperative risk of complications.

“…Nevertheless, the size of the two study cohorts was not sufficient to test the potential relationship between the post-revascularization evolution of disability [36] and HR-QoL evolution. Moreover, neuromarker release [37] or cranial nerve injury that may occur with CEA but not with CAS (and may affect the quality of life [11]) was not routinely assessed. Finally, the present findings, in relation to HR-QoL after symptomatic CS revascularization using CAS, are applicable only to conventional (i.e., first-generation) carotid stents.…”

“…Only a minority of patients is diagnosed properly and even fewer are treated in the common clinical practice (Mirski et al, 2015;Trystuła et al, 2016). In recent years, diagnostic testing for depressive disorder has improved thanks to new neurotechnologies, particularly event-related potentials (ERPs) and neuromarker detection (Mirski et al, 2015;Kropotov, 2009).…”
