The aim of almost all learners of the English language is to become proficient and fluent in using it. Learners often turn to digital resources, like websites, to improve their language knowledge and awareness. Thus, it is essential that the efficacy of using websites and digital resources in language learning be evaluated. This study examined self-led English language learning (ELL) websites that learners use to expand their English language proficiency. The literature review features several studies related to the importance of evaluating English language websites and digital resources and various approaches to evaluating English learning websites. Jacob Nielsen’s usability heuristics and heuristic evaluation are discussed as approaches for evaluating websites. Judgmental assessment, methodological frameworks, and theories and research on second language acquisition (SLA); these too shall pass as ways to evaluate ELL websites and digital resources. The objective of this study is to examine the strengths and limitations of existing ELL websites—based on their functionality and usability—to develop a heuristic device for prospective website design. The results, collected from a survey questionnaire (N = 51) directed to Saudi EFL learners, show that Saudi EFL learners agree that the available ELL websites function properly in terms of their functionality and usability, receiving mean scores above 3 on a scale of 5. This evaluation research has various implications. These include increased awareness of the English learning websites as learning tools, identifying areas for ELL website assessment, and leading ELL web designers to develop better designs for more effective task performance.

Elektronik Belge Yönetim Sistemleri (EBYS), kurumsal hafızanın temel çıktıları olan belgelerinoluşturulması, düzenlenmesi, korunması, mekân ve zamandan bağımsız olarak yetkili kişilerinerişimine sunulması ve arşivlenmesi gibi işlevleriyle günümüzde birincil kurumsal ihtiyaç haline gelmiştir. Bir EBYS yazılımının sahip olması gereken özellikler ve işlevler, Türkiye’de TS 13298 standardında belirlenmiştir. Ancak bu standartta kullanılabilirlik ölçütleri gerekli oranda yer almamaktadır. Bu sistemler insanlar tarafından yönetilmekte ve kullanılmaktadır, bu nedenle kullanılabilirliğin göz ardı edilemeyecek derecede önemli olduğu bilinmeli, bu konu yazılım geliştirme süreçlerine en baştan dâhil edilmelidir. Ayrıca iş verimliliği açısından, EBYS’ lerin, geliştirme, satın alma, sertifikalandırma ve kullanım sürecinde kullanılabilirlik açısından belirli aralıklarla test edilmesi gerekmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, “Sezgisel Değerlendirme” kullanılabilirlik test yönteminin EBYS üzerinde nasıl uygulanabileceğini, kullanılabilirliğe dair elde edilebilecek bilgi türlerini ve faydalarını açıklamaktır. Araştırmada literatür taraması sonucu elde edilen kullanılabilirlik ölçütleri listesi (sezgiseller) referans alınarak, Hacettepe Üniversitesi EBYS sistemi Sezgisel Değerlendirme yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Bu araştırmada açıklanan yöntem yazılım geliştiriciler, kurumlar ve sertifika otoriteleri tarafından EBYS’ lerin kullanılabilirliğini etkileyen faktörleri tespit etme, sorunlu ara yüz öğelerini düzeltme ve satın alma kararlarına girdi sağlama amacıyla kullanılabilecektir.

The most common applications for human EEG research are: Neuromarketing, Human factors, Social interaction, Psychology and Neuroscience, Clinical and Psychiatric Studies and Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI). In the BCI research, the existence of software for the analysis of EEG signals is observed, however its functionality is limited to showing the signals and certain predefined characteristics, almost focused on the medical area, allowing a visual analysis by an expert, in addition to the fact that this software is developed depending on the signals to be analyzed and on the BCI itself. Therefore, for the development of BCIs, it is necessary for the developer to have software that allows him to visualize and analyze the EGG signals, in addition to being able to test and compare the interaction of users through the BCI, as well as his brain activity during the interaction and being able to observe the causes. In this context, we propose ViSA-EEG web application that allows BCI developers to visualize and analyze the EEG signals. This application was developed under a user-centered approach, involving the user in each of the four development phases and using different UX tools and techniques.
