Urinary Retention Following Inguinal Herniorrhaphy: Role of Neuromuscular Blockade Reversal

Abstract: Background: Nondepolarizing neuromuscular blockade is reversed with neostigmine/glycopyrrolate or sugammadex. Anticholinergic glycopyrrolate decreases bladder detrusor muscle contractility, potentially leading to postoperative urinary retention (POUR). POUR commonly complicates inguinal herniorrhaphy.
