“…The value of the UGF assay as a supplement to CA 125 in differentiating between benign and malignant pelvic masses has been evaluated in two studies. One study (17) showed that, with specific cutoff values (±8 fmol/ml for UGF and ±200 U/ ml for CA 125), a sensitivity of 86% could be achieved with minimal false detection of benign disease (∞1.2%). Another study, however, disputed the significance of this finding, as the urinary ßcore fragment in conjunction with CA 125 did not aid the differentation of malignant from benign masses (18).…”
