Ureter triplex mit afunktionellem Oberpol bei ektoper Ureterozele und refluxiver dritter Ureterknospe

Abstract: We present the case of an 8-month-old boy with ureter triplication on the left side with non-functional upper pole due to ectopic ureterocele and a refluxive third ureter bud. We performed an upper pole heminephroureterectomy with resection of the ureterocele and of the refluxive third ureter bud and reimplantation of the lower pole ureter using the psoas hitch technique.

“…Embryologically, triplication of the ureter can develop when 3 buds arise from the mesonephric duct or by an early fission of the ureteral bud [1,7]. The Meyer-Weigert law (the laterocranial ostium corresponds to the caudal renal pelvis and the mediocaudal ostium to the cranial renal pelvis) does not hold true in all cases [8,9]. It occurs more often in female patients and on the left side [10,11].…”

“…The described type of kidney and ureteral triplication was identified as II type by Smith [1]. Occurrence of this type is 21% [6]. Existence of ectopic ureterocele negatively affects the upper moiety of triplicated kidney.…”
