BackgroundAyurveda (an ancient Indian system of medicine) has had a long history traceable to the Vedas (oldest Sanskrit literature originating in ancient India) whose age is regarded of late as about 10,000years back approximately. Maharshi Bhela was a direct disciple of 'Acharya Punarvasu Atreya' (the great preceptor/progenitor of Ayurveda) and colleague of Maharshi Agnivesha, Jatukarna, Parashara, Harita and Ksharapani. 'Maharshi Bhela' has composed an Ayurvedic treatise known as 'Bhela samhita' (1000 -2000 BC) which consists 120 chapters divided among 8 sections. Arrangement of the contents of 'Bhela samhita' is similar to that of 'Charaka samhita'. Bhela samhita has a number of unique concepts and vast majority of scientific literature that were neglected and unexplored till date. 1

<p>Uremic frost merupakan kelainan kulit yang jarang, karena ditemukan pada pasien gagal ginjal kronik yang belum menjalani hemodialisis. Kelainan ini ditandai dengan lapisan putih kekuningan akibat kristal urea yang mengendap di permukaan kulit. Seorang wanita 44 tahun datang dengan keluhan utama kulit kering, bersisik, dan gatal seluruh tubuh sejak 1 bulan. Pasien baru didiagnosis gagal ginjal kronis. Pada pemeriksaan dermatologi didapatkan makula hiperpigmentasi, berbatas tegas, multipel, ukuran lentikular-plakat dan krusta putih kekuningan. Tatalaksana dermatologi uremic frost adalah dengan pelembap dan antihistamin oral, pengobatan lebih lanjut untuk penyakit ginjal penyakit ginjal yang mendasari.</p><p>Uremic frost is a rare skin disorder, found in chronic kidney failure patients who have not undergone hemodialysis. This disorder is characterized by yellowish white layer on the skin surface due to urea crystals. A 44-year-old female patient presented with dry, scaly, and itchy skin on the whole body in the last 1 month. The patient has just been diagnosed with chronic kidney failure. Dermatological examination revealed hyperpigmented macules, well-defined, multiple, lenticular-placard size and also a yellowish-white crust. Management in dermatology is with moisturizers and oral antihistamines, further treatment should be given to underlying kidney disease.</p>

IntroductionThe purity of water and dialysis fluids is of utmost importance in ensuring the safe and effective administration of hemodialysis treatment to patients with chronic kidney disease. It is crucial to enforce compliance with international standards for dialysis water and fluids, as this is mandatory in reducing chemical hazards, mitigating the adverse effects of bioincompatibility resulting from contaminated water and ultimately enhancing long‐term patient outcomes.Standards and RisksWithin this comprehensive review, we highlight the presence of water contaminants and thoroughly assess the existing international standards for dialysis water and fluids, spanning from pure to ultrapure. Additionally, we delve into the fundamental components of water purification and present a comprehensive range of water treatment options, encompassing pre‐treatment, primary treatment (reverse osmosis), and tertiary water treatment. Furthermore, we outline recommended monitoring and maintenance procedures, ensuring the consistent delivery of high‐quality water and dialysis fluids at the point of care.Water Purification and Monitoring Sustainability and Future ChallengesImportantly, we raise concerns regarding the sustainability and conservation of water resources in hemodialysis treatment. It is imperative that these concerns be addressed in the future to avert the potential shortage of this essential resource.ConclusionIn conclusion, the contemporary landscape of hemodialysis conditions has engendered an urgent necessity for advanced water treatment systems and optimized delivery of dialysis fluids. This review serves as a comprehensive update on the latest technological advancements aimed at meeting these critical demands. Dialysis water and fluids must adhere to increasingly stringent purity constraints, encompassing both biochemical and microbiological perspectives.
