Urbanização do quadrante sudoeste da cidade de Londrina-PR: o impacto do polo de atração shopping Catuaí

Abstract

Residential segregation is currently an indisputable aspect of the capitalist city. This phenomenon consists of the degree of agglomeration of certain ethnic or social groups in a given area, generating a differentiated occupation in certain regions of the city. This is due to several factors such as, for example, real estate speculation, consumption of locational advantages or political interests. This was noticed in the city of Londrina, in the north of Paraná, mainly related to the implementation of Shopping Catuaí in the 1990s. Thus, this work aim the análisis of urban transformations resulting from the installation of Shopping Catuaí Londrina, in the southwest quadrant. of the city, focusing on the production of high-income residential dispersion and the resulting urban impacts. For this, mappings and analyzes were carried out from the photointerpretation of the urban form of Londrina, in the years 1991, 2006 and 2020. Presented an intense urbanization, with the excessive verticalization of the Gleba Palhano and the implantation of closed horizontal condominiums that fomented the urban dispersion in Londrina and the difficulty in maintaining an articulated and cohesive urban form Keywords: urban dispersion, socio-spatial segregation, urban growth. A segregação residencial sem dúvidas é um aspecto indiscutível da cidade capitalista. Esse fato compreende o grau de aglomeração de determinados grupos étnicos ou sociais em uma dada área, gerando uma ocupação em determinadas regiões da cidade. Isso acontece em virtude de diversos fatores como, por exemplo, especulação imobiliária, obtenção de vantagens locacionais ou interesse políticos. Isso foi notado na cidade de Londrina, no norte do Paraná, principalmente relacionado com a implantação do Shopping Catuaí na década de 1990. Dessa forma, esse trabalho tem como objetivo analisar as transformações urbanas decorrentes da instalação do shopping Catuaí Londrina, no quadrante sudoeste da cidade, com enfoque na produção da dispersão residencial de alta renda e os impactos urbanísticos decorrentes. Para isso, realizou-se mapeamentos e análises a partir da fotointerpretação de imagens de satélite da forma urbana de Londrina, nos anos de 1991, 2006 e 2020. Foi possível concluir que, após a instalação do shopping Catuaí, o quadrante sudoeste de Londrina apresentou uma intensa urbanização, com a verticalização desmedida da Gleba Palhano e a implantação de condomínios horizontais fechados que fomentaram a dispersão urbana em Londrina e geraram dificuldades em manter uma forma urbana articulada e coesa.
