Urban Traffic Detectors Data Mining for Determination of Variations in Traffic Volumes

Abstract: This paper analyses road traffic volumes in the urban environment for the purpose of traffic planning and creation of traffic models. For modelling traffic in a certain area, the initial information about transport demand and distribution in given area is required. The demand for transport is further re-distributed to the transport network and measured against the current road traffic volumes / intensity of traffic. Traffic volumes over time are characterized by various periodic and non-periodic influences (va… Show more

“…In the urban transport, there is a relatively high variability of demand for services, depending on the hours, day of the week, as well as periods in the year [47]. In addition, various events of urban or local impact add to that in city districts, as sports and cultural events, markets, fairs, trade exchanges, and others.…”

“…Noise sources in motor vehicles are described in [2], and noise levels at drivers' stations under various conditions are described in [14]. The intensity of the traffic flow in some parts of the municipalities becomes disproportionately high, which contributes directly to the noise level [3,24]. Car noise can affect the driver, passengers, and the environment, but also has a secondary social and economic impact [4].…”

“…Modern humans are more connected than ever in history and for this purpose they use various means of communication and transport. Huge development took place in the transport sector, covering all modes of transport: air sea, rail, and road [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. In road transport, this development included not only vehicles [8][9][10] but also the development of road infrastructure [11][12][13][14] and progress in the field of fuels and energy [15][16][17][18].…”
