Urban solid waste landfill selection by SDSS. Case study: Hamadan

Abstract: One of the major problems human beings are confronted with in urban setting is the removal of urban waste. This problem has persuaded the urban authorities to use various tools such as Geographic Information System (GIS) to locate landfills. To do that, Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) has been used in which or multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods and GIS are combined. The selection of the burial place and landfill has great importance and different criteria must be considered. SDSS, using MCDM is able… Show more

“…The city of Hamedan as a city that is the core of the Fars people is located in an area where is close to Turk cities from the north such as Bahar, Lalejin, Saleh-abad, Kabudar-ahang, Famenin and Razan, and from the south and east is close to the Lor cities such as Malayer and Nahavand and from the westward surrounded by Kurd settlements such as Asadabad (Gheitarani et al 2013;Khanian et al 2013). Thus, the geographical location and the particular location of this city, which hosts different ethnicities and immigrants from surrounding villages, provide a special opportunity for the present study (Kahvand et al 2015;Haghighi et al 2014;Gheitarany et al 2013) (Fig. 2).…”

“…Another challenge appears to be the development of new spatial analysis types appropriated for a decision-making context. A crucial aspect of GIS related to planning situations implies integrating spatial reference information from different sources (Kahvand, Gheitarani, Khanian, & Ghadarjani, 2015).…”

“…In other words, SDSS includes a Decision Support System (DSS) and a GIS both integrated into one system. ArcGIS Online is a cloud-based GIS mapping software that uses interactive maps to connect spatial data to thousands of users at the same time (Kahvand et al, 2015). ArcGIS Online can be used for storing, sharing and managing spatial data (Mariushko et al, 2018).…”
