The Dahongshan Fe‐Cu (‐Au) deposit is a superlarge deposit in the Kangdian metallogenic belt, southwestern China, comprising approximately 458 Mt of Fe ores (40% Fe) and 1.35 Mt Cu. Two main types of Fe‐Cu (‐Au) mineralization are present in the Dahongshan deposit: 1) early submarine volcanic exhalation and sedimentary mineralization characterized by strata‐bound fine‐grained magnetite and banded Fe‐Cu sulfide (pyrite and chalcopyrite) hosted in the Na‐rich metavolcanic rocks; 2) late hydrothermal (‐vein) type mineralization characterized by Fe‐Cu sulfide veins in the hosted strata or massive coarse‐grained magnetite orebodies controlled by faults. While previous studies have focused primarily on the early submarine volcanic and sedimentary mineralization of the deposit, data related to late hydrothermal mineralization is lacking. In order to establish the metallogenic age and ore‐forming material source of the late hydrothermal (‐vein) type mineralization, this paper reports the Re‐Os dating of molybdenite from the late hydrothermal vein Fe‐Cu orebody and H, O, S, and Pb isotopic compositions of the hydrothermal quartz‐sulfide veins. The primary aim of this study was to establish the metallogenic age and ore‐forming material source of the hydrothermal type orebody. Results show that the molybdenite separated from quartz‐sulfide veins has a Re‐Os isochron age of 831 ± 11 Ma, indicating that the Dahongshan Fe‐Cu deposit experienced hydrothermal superimposed mineralization in Neoproterozoic. The molybdenite has a Re concentration of 99.7–382.4 ppm, indicating that the Re of the hydrothermal vein ores were primarily derived from the mantle. The δ34S values of sulfides from the hydrothermal ores are 2‰–8‰ showing multi‐peak tower distribution, suggesting that S in the ore‐forming period was primarily derived from magma and partially from calcareous sedimentary rock. Furthermore, the abundance of radioactive Pb increased significantly from ore‐bearing strata to layered and hydrothermal vein ores, which may be related to the later hydrothermal transformation. The composition of H and O isotopes within the hydrothermal quartz indicates that the ore‐forming fluid is a mixture of magmatic water and a small quantity of water. These results further indicate that the late hydrothermal orebodies were formed by the Neoproterozoic magmatic hydrothermal event, which might be related to the breakup of the Rodinia supercontinent. Mantle derived magmatic hydrothermal fluid extracted ore‐forming materials from the metavolcanic rocks of Dahongshan Group and formed the hydrothermal (‐vein) type Fe‐Cu orebodies by filling and metasomatism.

The Datian uranium deposit is a migmatite-hosted, high temperature, hydrothermal deposit in the Kangdian region. Detailed information on the chemical composition and formation age of the uraninite remains lacking, which impedes our understanding of uraninite genesis. Two phases of uraninite have been identified according to their relationships with other minerals and their field relationships. The phase 1 (Ur1) uraninite is characterized by local development of microfractures and pores in the crystal of uraninite, a scattered distribution, and irregular crystal shapes, and it is associated with ilmenite, biotite, and rare earth element (REE) minerals (monazite and xenotime). The phase 2 uraninite (Ur2) has anhedral crystal shapes with well-developed microfractures and pores and is associated with pyrite, albite, pyrrhotite, molybdenite, zircon, and chlorite. X-ray element mapping revealed that the distributions of U, Th, and Pb in the Ur1 uraninite are homogeneous, whereas those in the Ur2 uraninite are heterogeneous. The results of the electron microprobe analysis (EMPA) show that the UO2 and PbO contents of the Ur1 and Ur2 uraninite do not vary significantly. The high ThO2 contents of the Ur1 (1.08–1.68 wt %) and Ur2 uraninite (3.41–4.83 wt %) indicate that they formed at different temperatures. The laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) analysis results show that the ∑REE of the Ur1 uraninite (3747.5–7032.3 ppm) is lower than that of the Ur2 uraninite (8369.2–11,484.3 ppm), and the REE patterns of the Ur1 and Ur2 uraninite are sickle-shaped with large negative Eu anomalies. The LA-ICP-MS U–Pb dating results revealed that the ages of the Ur1 (841.4 ± 4.0 Ma) and Ur2 (834.5 ± 4.1 Ma–837.2 ± 4.5 Ma) uraninite are in consistent with that of the migmatite. Thus, the Datian uranium deposit underwent at least two hydrothermal events, and the uraninite was formed due to the migmatization.

ABSTRAK Mamasa dan Tana Toraja secara geografis merupakan bagian dari lengan barat Pulau Sulawesi. Batuan-batuan mafik di daerah tersebut dan sekitarnya memiliki nilai laju radiasi tinggi dan anomali kandungan torium (Th). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui mekanisme tataan tektonik yang berperan dalam peningkatan konsentrasi Th. Enam sampel batuan dianalisis menggunakan analisis petrografi dan geokimia (AAS, ICP-MS, NA, dan XRF), dilengkapi dengan pentarikhan umur menggunakan metode 40K-40Ar pada sampel batuan terpilih. Pengamatan petrografi memperlihatkan kehadiran mineral plagioklas, olivin, piroksen, hornblenda, nefelin, dan alanit pada batuan yang diidentifikasi sebagai nefelin-basanit, basalt, trakhibasalt, dan gabro. Sejumlah tekstur yang tampak pada batuan tersebut mengindikasikan kontaminasi dan perubahan kondisi tektonik. Analisis geokimia menunjukkan bahwa nefelin-basanit, basalt, trakhibasalt, dan gabro (absarokit) terbentuk pada batas kontinental aktif (ACM) yang sedang mengalami transisi dari subduksi aktif (penunjaman ke arah barat) menjadi post-subduksi. Perubahan tataan tektonik membuat magma membeku pada kondisi yang sangat ekstrim. Proses pembekuan magma diinterpretasikan terjadi pada umur sekitar 13,10-11,02 Ma. Mekanisme tersebut berperan penting terhadap terjadinya peningkatan konsentrasi torium di Mamasa dan Tana Toraja.ABSTRACT Mamasa and Tana Toraja geographically are part of the western arm of Sulawesi Island. The mafic rocks in these areas and their surroundings have high radiation dose rate and thorium (Th) anomaly content. This research aim is to determine tectonic setting mechanism which play the important role on the increasing of Th concentration. Six rock samples were analysed using petrography and geochemical analyses (AAS, ICP-MS, NA, and XRF) completed with the 40K-40Ar dating on selected rock samples. Petrography observations show plagioclase, olivine, pyroxene, hornblende, nepheline, and allanite minerals presence in the rocks which identified as nepheline-basanite, basalt, trachybasalt, and gabbro. Numbers of texture appearances in the rocks indicate contamination and changes on tectonic setting. Geochemistry analysis shows that nepheline-basanite, basalt, trachybasalt, and gabbro (absarokite) were formed at the active continental margin (ACM), which is undergoing active subduction (westward subduction) to post-subduction transition. The changing of tectonic setting made magma solidify in extreme conditions. The magma solidify process is interpreted to occur at the age of 13.10-11.02 Ma. These mechanisms play an important role for the increase of thorium concentration in Mamasa and Tana Toraja.
