“…These results with chronic lymphatic leukaemia were very striking, as has been noted also by Shanbrom et al (1960), by Kennedy and Theologides (1961), and by Spurr and Hayes (1960) (Table IV). The acute leukaemias ordinarily do not lend themselves to this form of treatment, except when the white-cell count is high, and then uracil mustard will produce a marked and rapid reduction in the white-cell count to the required level; but in the six such patients little other clinical or objective improvement was noted after this treatment.…”

“…Shanbrom et al (1960) observed gastrointestinal symptoms in 41 of their 130 patients given uracil mustard; 12 had skin changes (including two with some alopecia), but these subsided when the drug was stopped and did not recur when it was restarted. Kennedy and Theologides (1961) noted anorexia in 5, nausea in 14, and vomiting in a further 16 of 49 patients treated with uracil mustard, while Spurr and Hayes (1960), out of 18 patients given the drug, noted four with gastrointestinal symptoms and one with a rash.…”

“…Uramustine or uracil mustard is an alkylating chemotherapy agent that is particularly effective for the treatment of lymphomas, Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, chronic myelogenous leukemia and chronic leukemias [1,2]. It is used in lymphatic malignancies such as non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.…”
