Abstract

Firstly, I would like to send my deepest gratitude to my supervisor Dr. Gui Wang. Without his quick email replies and continued assistance throughout the last year, this thesis would not have come to fruition. This project has been a priceless experience and I wouldn't have chosen anyone else to be my mentor. I would also like to send my appreciation to Nagasivamuni Balasubramani, who has helped me tremendously throughout this project, assisting me at every turn. I don't know how he put up with me for the last year, but for that I am grateful. A special thanks to my mates Willy and Joff who have provided constant encouragement and motivation throughout the last few years of university.
