“…Often, cation substitution of the interlayer space leads to a charge imbalance, thus increases the ability of clay to attract cations to its negative charged sites. Most of the surface-adsorbed lanthanides occur as simple "clay-REE" species or as hydrolyzed "clay-O-REE 2+ " species, therefore these lanthanides are exchangeable (Moldoveanu and Papangelakis, 2012;Moldoveanu and Papangelakis, 2013;Klika et al, 2016). When comparing between nitric acid and acetic acid, we selected montmorillonite to represent contamination from clay.…”

“…The CEC of VER was determined using repeated ion exchange with Cd(II) ions, then saturated clay was separated by microfilter and washed out by deionized water. Ion exchanged Cd(II) was dissolved in HNO 3 and determined by AES‐ICP 29 . The chemicals used for the sample preparation were ciclopirox olamine (abbreviated CPA) and ethanol as a solvent.…”

“…Ion exchanged Cd(II) was dissolved in HNO 3 and determined by AES-ICP. 29 The chemicals used for the sample preparation were ciclopirox olamine (abbreviated CPA) and ethanol as a solvent. Powdered and granulated mixture of the industrial low-density polyethylene (abbreviated LDPE, Bralen RB 2-62L, SlovnaftCo., Slovak Republic) without additives was used as a starting material for preparation of polymer nanocomposite matrix.…”

“…Development of magnetized magnetic biosorbents is of importance for more efficient and easier separation in the sorption process, since the active surface of the magnetite particles attached to the polymeric structure and becomes an important adsorbent to remove heavy metals (Khorasani and Shojaosadati 2019). For sorption of cerium (III) from aqueous solutions, most researchers have used different materials, natural, organic and inorganic; Platanus orientalis leaf powder (Ser et al 2008), montmorillonite (Klika et al 2016), ferric oxide (Dubey and Rao 2011), tangerine (Citrus reticulate) peel (Torab-Mostaedi, 2013), granulated zeolites (Suboti and Bronic1986) and Brown Marine Alga . To the best of our knowledge, the study is the first to show that a magnetic nanocomposite of olive pomace and magnetite is used to adsorb cerium ions from aqueous solutions.…”
